Our planned dementia support centre will be a welcoming, accessible space where people living with dementia and their carers can find free practical help, advice and support. Whilst our centre will focus on Wayfinder support, activities, training and support groups, our team can also help you find and access other local services including respite care and personal care.

A Wayfinder supporting a family
Wayfinder

A trusted guide, every step of the way

A Wayfinder is a trusted professional and dedicated point of contact, assigned to you from pre-diagnosis onwards. They will help you navigate the questions, emotions and new responsibilities that a dementia diagnosis brings, providing personalised one-to-one guidance for people living with dementia, their families and carers. They will be there to:

  • Act as a central point of contact for users of our centre services
  • Help guide you through the health and care system
  • Help support and signpost you to the right services at the right time
  • Provide accurate information
  • Provide advice on living well with dementia
  • Help you to plan for the future, including long-term care

Daily Activities

Enjoyable, sociable and good for wellbeing

We offer a range of activities for people living with dementia and their carers including arts and crafts, light exercise, music, singing, dancing, yoga, bingo and mindfulness. Our activities are designed to be enjoyable, sociable and beneficial to wellbeing.

Our centre will offer a variety of activities designed to support wellbeing, connection and confidence, including arts and crafts, light exercise, music, singing, dancing, a local history club and mindfulness, all delivered in a calm and welcoming environment. We also host drop in sessions and community activities at local venues across the area. Please contact us for details.

We run a range of support groups for people living with dementia and those who care for them. Our groups provide a safe, welcoming space to connect with others who understand what you are going through. Our current groups include:

Support close to home

Our outreach programme hopes to bring drop in sessions to local communities, so that everyone can access support close to home.

Drop in to one of our warm and welcoming local sessions, created for people living with dementia, their carers and anyone seeking social connection and companionship. Each session offers a friendly space to enjoy wellbeing activities such as singing, creative expression, gentle chair based exercise and relaxed conversations over refreshments.

Building understanding in our community

We offer dementia awareness training for members of the public, local businesses and community organisations who want to better understand dementia. We also provide professional development training delivered by specialist trainers for those working in the field.

Whether you are new to dementia or looking to deepen your knowledge, our training sessions are welcoming, informative and practical.
